BSET FIRST YEARS: DIVING INTO HANDS-ON LEARNING

Winks Greene Transeva (or Equine Transeva Technique – ETT) Practice

This past month has been an exciting journey for our first-year students as they embarked on using ETT  for the first time, along with assistant instructor, Demi. They started by practicing on each other’s arms, gradually moving to the back and quads. This foundational training prepared them for the thrilling experience of using the ETT on horses for the first time in the past month. Guided by our BSET Academy expert instructor, Birgit, who brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for ETT, the first years navigated this new terrain with confidence and enthusiasm.

EQASA Exam Success

BSET’s commitment to academic excellence was demonstrated through our recent EQASA exams, which our students approached with diligence and determination. We are pleased to report that the exams went well, reflecting the hard work and dedication of our students and BSET Academy principal, Robyn.

First Horse Dissection

In addition to our practical training, BSET Academy students had the unique opportunity to watch their first horse dissection. This hands-on experience was incredibly educational, offering deep insights into equine anatomy that will undoubtedly enhance their understanding and skills as equine therapists.

Field Trip to Bomber’s Factory

The learning journey included a fascinating visit to Bomber’s factory in Merrivale, where students observed the intricate process of making bits for horses. This field trip not only broadened the students understanding of equine equipment but also highlighted the importance of precision and quality in equine care.

Online Learning with Beth Shaw

Despite geographical distances, BSET Academy learning continues seamlessly online. Beth Shaw, lecturing from Hong Kong, has been instrumental in refining the students SUMCHI Technique skills. Beth’s virtual lessons are engaging and enriching, adding significant value to our training.

EKWOS: Understanding Horse Personalities

BSET Academy EKWOS sessions with Mandy remain a highlight, delving deeper into horse behavior and their individual personality attributes. These insights are crucial for developing a holistic approach to equine interaction, ensuring the students cater to the unique needs of each horse they work with.

BSET SECOND YEARS: ADVANCED TRAINING AND BUSINESS ACUMEN

Field ETT and SUMCHI Application

Our second-year student has been busy applying her ETT skills in the field, gaining invaluable hands-on experience. She is also integrating SUMCHI Techniques when and where necessary, enhancing her versatility and competence as an Equine Practitioner.

Business Skills Development

A crucial part of our second-year curriculum focuses on business skills, recently in communication and conflict resolution. BSET students had an insightful lesson on these topics, in preparation of a reflective essay on communication. The next task is about creating a persona for a prospective client as part of the business plan each student is working on during the course of the year.
