Wrapping Up Semester 2 and Welcome back to Semester 3

As we closed out Semester 2, BSET Academy was buzzing with holiday excitement but also a sense of achievement and exhaustion. BSET wrapped up classes on Thursday, 8 August, giving everyone a well-deserved two-week break before getting into the last semester of the year. The BSET students, both first and second years, have been making incredible strides in all areas of their studies – EKWOS, rehabilitation, the business aspect and then all the healing modalities (ETT and SUMCHI).

Entrepreneurship and Business Ventures (EBV) Progress

Our second-year students have been doing well in the Entrepreneurship and Business Ventures (EBV) module. As they return for Semester 3, their focus will shift to refining their Executive Summaries and working on their understanding of the fundamentals that make a successful business. This includes honing their vision, mission, and culture, as well as laying out clear objectives, business ideas, and company descriptions. They’ll also explore market analysis and business viability, setting a strong foundation for their future ventures and their Business Plans that need to be developed over the following months.

The first-year students are equally engaged, progressing through the business component of their Cathsseta coursework. They’ve been looking into crucial aspects of teamwork, management and leadership styles, delegation, and the importance of clear communication. These lessons are not just important for their academic growth but also good for their personal and professional development.

EQASA Exams: Prepared and Confident

The students returned on 26 August and dived straight into their EQASA exams during the latter part of their first week back. We’re proud to report that the examinations went really well, thanks to Robyn’s diligent and thorough preparation and the students’ hard work. Their dedication is paying off, and we’re excited to see them continue to excel in their equine studies for the rest of the year.

Sharing Beth’s and BSET’s Knowledge Far and Wide

Beth took her expertise “on the road”, heading to Canada and the USA before returning to Hong Kong. After an intense 7-day teaching spree at BSET Academy in July, Beth, alongside her students and colleagues, organized eight months of new theory on SUMCHI’s Concertina of Muscle Hubs and Interhub Tension Lines.

Beth’s collaborative efforts with Birgit, Robyn, Mandy and the students culminated in material that Beth used for her clinics in Canada, showcasing the global impact of the work being done at BSET Academy and her findings in the equine healing space.

Beth’s journey included a SUMCHI clinic at Sunny Plain Ranch in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, where she was welcomed by both new and returning SUMCHI enthusiasts. Beth also led a successful two-day Level 2 clinic at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Canada, in partnership with Marianne Ortepi and Quick Silver Equine Therapy. These experiences have not only expanded her reach but also cemented the global reputation of BSET Academy and Beth’s groundbreaking work in Hong Kong. Beth is now back in Hong Kong, inspired and eager to continue developing new material with her mentor Dr Sara Wyche, including the upcoming Level 3 SUMCHI workbook.

Looking Ahead: Student Inquiries for 2025

As we look to the future, it’s good to see a steady flow of inquiries for 2025. BSET has lined up three potential student visits for September, and we’re eager to welcome new faces to our equine academy. If you’re interested in joining the BSET family, be sure to visit our “Courses” page on the BSET Academy website to explore what we have to offer.

As always, we’re committed to nurturing the next generation of equine specialists, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds for our current students, Beth’s findings and BSET Academy as a whole.
