Breaking New Ground in Equine Education: February 2025
Despite the persistent rainy season in the KZN Midlands, BSET Academy has been buzzing with activity and growth throughout February. The wet weather hasn’t dampened our spirits – in fact, it’s encouraged numerous enjoyable hacks across our beautiful surroundings.
Hands-On Learning Experience
Our first-year students had the exceptional opportunity to participate in backing a horse this month in Ekwos. This practical experience taught them the meticulous process of backing a horse with confidence and care. These valuable skills are precisely what sets our BSET Academy graduates apart in the equine industry, providing them with real-world expertise that will serve them throughout their careers.
The learning didn’t stop there – both first and second-year students participated in a specialized taping clinic, adding another practical skill to their growing repertoire.
Students also welcomed a visiting equine dentist, Steve Clark Eq Dentistry Services, who demonstrated professional techniques for maintaining horses’ dental health, offering invaluable insights into this specialized aspect of equine care.
International Connections Growing
We’re delighted to welcome an Austrian student who has joined us for work study to earn her practical hours, further establishing BSET Academy’s reputation as an internationally recognized equine education destination.
Birgit recently returned from her first holiday to the USA, during which BSET Academy alumna Hayley capably covered her responsibilities in Durban. Since returning, Birgit has been heavily involved with second-year students, teaching ETT principles and working extensively with rehabilitation horses.
With the dedicated BSET team managing operations worldwide, Beth is preparing for an important trip to the USA, where she’ll meet with CHI University and Noelle Floyd in Ocala, Florida.
Alumni Success Stories
Our alumni continue to represent BSET Academy with distinction around the world. Kayla is thriving in her new position at BSET Academy, bringing fresh energy to our team. Meanwhile, Mersadez Van Zyl continues her impressive work in Hong Kong, providing crucial support to Beth with ETT International responsibilities while contributing to SUMCHI theory development. Her presence creates an ideal environment for Beth to teach and develop new concepts, elevating ETT and SUMCHI understanding to new heights.
BSET Academy Growth
BSET Academy continues to break new ground in the equine industry. We’re excited to announce that the Muscle Hubs of Level 1 is now ready for printing and will soon be available for purchase on www.SUMCHI.com.
Beth has welcomed little Olive, a new puppy who will undoubtedly bring much joy to Ox, though she won’t remain “little” for long!
As we move forward in 2025, BSET Academy remains committed to pioneering excellence in equine education, connecting passionate professionals across continents, and developing innovative approaches to equine therapy, healing and training.
